Artist's Description
The title of this image is "Gas Works Park", and it depicts the gasification plant that was operational in Seattle, Washington.
This 20 acre point on Lake Union was cleared in 1906 to construct a plant to manufacture gas from coal - later converted to crude oil. Import of natural gas in the 1950's made the plant obsolete. The city acquired the site for a park in 1962. The park was opened to the public in 1975. The boiler house has been converted to a picnic shelter with tables, fire grills and an open area. The former exhauster-compressor building, now a children's play barn, features a maze of brightly painted machinery.

Please Take Some Time to Browse Through My Site I have over 40 years of photographic experience. I have been published in newspapers, magazines and in the past worked as commercial photographer. I work very hard to ensure that the quality is the best, my descriptions are accurate and you enjoy your shopping experience. Small independent artists, like myself, have few avenues left to share and sell our work. No amount of advertising, no amount of money is more valuable to an artist than others spreading the word about the work they love. Pick and choose how you would like to displayed the picture. You have a huge variety of framing options on this site. Fine Art America's print-on-demand service allows you to buy fine art prints...

I agree...sometimes that low autumn sunlight gives unique perspectives to places that otherwise lose drama in higher illumination.

Very interesting.
Greg Sigrist replied:
Thanks. It was taken in November and this is the usual cloud cover and light you have to work with. The low in the sky sun was showing through behind me and the clouds behind the gasworks structure is what makes this a great and somewhat unusual shot.
